Ginny, my first female ferret, was adopted from Kijiji on October 3rd, 2016 at the age of around five years. She was a lovely little girl, with a tricky habit of licking your hand and then chomping down, but she was the sweetest thing when you got to know her, and would happily curl up on your chest for a nap, cuddling her back legs or burying her nose in her front paw. She never took to soft toys, but would steal my tablet pen, my fiancé's computer mouse, and even the vet's stethoscope! In November, we discovered a lump on her lower abdomen, and took her into the vet's to have it checked out. The lump turned out to be a tumour, likely cancerous. Ginny remained happy, playing in the rice box, snuggling up with our two other ferrets - her brother, Vimes, who came with her and our younger rescue, Floki - and especially enjoyed the sweet supplement that the vet gave us for her. Over time, she needed fed with a syringe on occaision, but she was so cute about it that it never became a chore. On April 3rd, 2017 Ginny's condition worsened after a steady fall over the past few weeks. At around 8pm, she was helped to sleep cuddled by her parents, myself and JehanCriec. In her last half hour she returned our kisses, 'dooked' at us to reassure us that she was okay, and died with a smile on her face, even trying to steal the vet's stethoscope one last time. Dook in peace, Ginny. You were mummy's beautiful girl. There's no more pain now. Rest easy, and be good. We love you.
