are you wondering what the hell is up with my field names? that's fair yeah they do not make sense. put this here cause 1) someone might be curious and 2) for my own personal reference if i'm ever away from pokefarm for a while and kinda forget my own thought process. i left out any that are self-evident REGULAR FIELDS generally speaking: fields are named after the flavour preference(s) of the pokemon within based on a similarly-coloured item/concept (yellow, red, blue, pink, green), similarly-flavoured item/concept (sometimes in a more metaphorical sense) to the flavour preference(s), and/or something related to the appearance of the emoji i chose to use to represent that flavour, with pokemon who like any food, or fields not sorted by flavour preference (overflow fields for when the others have somewhat filled up but not quite enough to warrant a specific-flavour-dedicated field), given a generic name of some sort that has to do with the type/the theme i chose for the type's other fields fire: well-done steak because dry and chewy, and mystery black lump because... well... burnt things are bitter water: "dry liquid" is, suffice to say, a little paradoxical, so i went with something more esoteric: salt is plenty dry and it'll suck the moisture right out of things, so salty seawater is as close to "dry liquid" as one can get normal: thought this video was extremely funny so i named my overflow field after it. we're just normal men. we're just innocent men fighting: irl obi colours for various martial arts, with the one for sweet, judo 8th dan, being a red-and-white belt since umm... there weren't any pink ones i could find... flying: cactus wrens not for colour but because they live in deserts, pigeons because those guys are pretty common and one of the most generic Birds, and while flamingos are obviously the more iconic pink bird, it's only cause they're always on that damn shrimp... galahs appear to just be pink naturally so i used them instead poison: i have some suspicious google searches logged thanks to looking for stuff for these fields.. ummm... anyway. honestly i don't remember if there was anything specific that made me use ricin for sour and trying to reverse-engineer google my way to the answer failed, alcohol produces a burning-like sensation in the mouth, arsenic because it's largely flavourless and odorless electric: i gotta be real with you chief all of the electric-type field names suck and i don't know how to fix them. if anyone has any better ideas i would love to hear them psychic: tarot cards! the star was just for yellow, the tower is for the tower being on fire, temperance is meant to evoke something like how monks self-mummify (thus becoming dried-out), wheel of fortune for "spin the wheel i'll gladly eat whatever it lands on", lovers because... metaphorically if i'm gonna give a flavour to love it'll be sweet... as with bitter to death... yeah rock: salt once again for how it sucks up moisture, and rock candy cause well how could i not... i liked those two choices enough that i did not go with sapphire for dry (being blue) and rose quartz for sweet (being pink) though it's also very tempting to switch bug: based on what the bugs eat or produce. aphids are common pests of crabapples (sour), cochineals are crushed to produce carmine, a red dye (spicy), termites eat wood (dry), honeybees produce... honey (sweet), and coffee borers... are pests of coffee plants (bitter)... ghost: horror movies; to be fair sour and saw is kind of loose but i consider sour to be one of the more torturous flavours a food can be second only to bitter and what else is more torture-associated than saw... carrie is for well the blood and the fire and whatnot, the grudge because grudges... are bitter. yeah dark: pranks! and other mischief. me saying "pranks" hopefully makes some of the weirder-phrased ones um. a little clearer. shock gum because electricity = yellow, the "chalkboard eraser" one is supposed to be like that scene in naruto where they meet kakashi for the first time and naruto puts the eraser between the doors so when he opens it it falls on his head and y'know chalk = dry i already did that one (and trying to make the chalkboard eraser thing clear meant i just did not give any special title for the "any" mons... cause of the lack of room...), white lies because they're meant to not hurt anyone thus sweet, and a thumbtack on your chair is like... within the realm of "prank" but also a particularly nasty thing to do to someone, thus bitter fairy: just picked a particularly fairy-like candy for sweet in konpeito, and for bitter i picked a chocolate that wasn't particularly sweet (plus some people REALLY hate hershey's). btw for americans, canadian "rockets" are the chalky tablet candies that many of you know as american "smarties" (we have smarties but they're like sweeter m&ms) OTHER He is burning.: once upon a time in 2017 when i first got pokefarm i noticed that a pokemon with 4x weakness to a certain type would be happiest in a field of that type, so i put my 4x fire weakness swadloon in a fire-type field. my mutual, upon noticing this, began joking about how cruel it is to put my poor quadruply weak boy in this field and i of course argued back that He loves to burn!. if you hover over the centermost swadloon in that field, you'll see it's nicknamed #FreeSwadloon2017 hilbertmatsu quarantine: the basics are as follows: karrablast has "karra" in it which is similar to the "kara" of "karamatsu" from that show about the sextuplets i never actually watched but back in 2017 it was gratuitously memed on. so karrablast = karramatsu. hilbert? what about hilbert, you ask? well hilbert is the bw protag. ... you can stare at me waiting for me to continue all you want but i also don't know how karramatsu and hilbert got combined like that. don't remember a damn thing. makes perfect sense given my sense of humor and the time period, does not make sense in any other way. all i know is i wrote a katy perry california girls parody called hilbertmatsu girls where i basically just took the original lyrics and made them about hilbert and n and hilda and hilbertmatsu. and now whenever i look at a karrablast i call it hilbertmatsu furby skinning area: "furby skinners anonymous" is the name of a friend group i've had since 2017 (surprisingly different group from the one that produced hilbertmatsu, though jpeg cult was also formed from pokemon twitter crack rp). i felt like it was the best name for a field dedicated to pokemon that are literally just there as inside jokes * the various members of the klink line are from a list of "ship names" for a bunch of pokemon characters that inexplicably included pairings so beyond rare that it was clear whoever put them there only did so because of the ship name they came up with, one such entry being "n x klinklang: where'sklangshipping" which was so specifically and inexplicably hilarious to me that to this day when i see any member of the klink line i think WHERE'S KLANG * the three daves/cyndaquil trio are based on a similar trio i discovered i had in my hgss save file from my first ever playthrough back in like 2010, with exactly the same nicknames. to this day have no idea what was going on there other than the fact that ~2009-2012 was my era of Teh Randomz but honestly i do think the three daves are still really funny for some reason * kricketune's a jpeg cult one. you ever read my immortal, the most iconic and amazing bad fanfic on the internet? well i write rival silver as an irony-poisoned gothpunk 24 yr old who's mostly grown out of his tweenage edgy phase and my friend writes guzma. my silver and their guzma are friends. need i even say more * pilap navif the ponyta... an old contemporary explanation mostly copy pasted with some clarification/editing: "i had one dream specifically in a weird state of half-asleep half-awake that felt so real that i was completely convinced that it was so i actually wrote it down so i could remember to ask about it once i was finally legit awake. and now being awake i know for a FACT it ABSOLUTELY isn't because what i dreamed was real was like. the new hot meme (possibly internet-wide, maybe just within our friend group) was just an image of a horse with an impact font caption on it that said PILAP NAVIF". and it continues to be unnecessarily hilarious to me to this day
